2019 Inaugural Fireside Chat
On Tuesday 22 October, the PPE club was honoured to have had the distinguished former Ambassador-at-large of Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bilahari Kausikan, down for the club’s inaugural Fireside Chat event. Mr. Kausikan is the Chairman of the Middle East Institute (MEI), and a retired diplomat and civil servant who served as the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was also Singapore’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Ambassador to Russia. At the event, he shared valuable insights on recent matters of global significance, including the rise of China, the Sino-US trade war, and the Hong Kong protests. His expertise offered profound perspectives on how Singapore should navigate these unchartered waters in terms of its foreign diplomacy.
